Kip Winger Information
Charles Frederick Kip Winger (June 21, 1961) is an American rock musician, a member of a rock band called “Winger,” and also performs as a solo artist. Winger gained popularity as a member of Alice Cooper’s band, where he contributed his vocal and bass abilities for the Raise Your Fist and Yell and Constrictor albums. Winger was born in Colorado, and his parents were both musicians. During his childhood, he used to play in a band named “Blackwood Creek” along with brothers Paul and Nate.
Winger began to study classical music 16 and was heavily influenced by top composers such as Stravinsky, Ravel, and Debussy in a ballet class. At the same time, Winger sent his demo tape to Alan Parsons, and he was lucky enough to receive a personal reply. His first commercial break came in 1984, where Winger co-wrote the song entitled “Bang Bang” for the third album of Kix named “Midnite Dynamite.” At that time, he was also working very closely with the record producer, Beau Hill. He was recording vocals and bass on various records.
Winger moved to New Mexico to work exclusively on his solo career. He studied with Richard Hermann at the University of New Mexico. He recorded three solo records: Songs from the Ocean Floor, This Conversation Seems Like a Dream, and Down Incognito. Some of the notable studio albums by Winger include Conversations with Nijinsky (2016), Ghosts – Suite No. 1 (2010), and From the Moon to the Sun (2008).
