Kimya Dawson Information
Kimya Dawson (November 17, 1972) is an American folk singer-songwriter born in Bedford Hills, New York. She is one half of the anti-folk band, the Moldy Peaches. Dawson's collaborations with the Moldy Peaches garnered both fan devotion and critical praise; their 2001 single "Anyone Else But You" was featured on the soundtracks of several critically acclaimed independent films.
After making a big appearance on the soundtrack of Juno's 2007 film, which features many songs by Dawson and her connected musical acts, the rendition of "Anyone Else But You" by Michael Cera and Elliot Page hit the Billboard Hot 100.
After co-founding the Moldy Peaches band with Adam Green, Dawson shot to fame. Dawson has been touring North America and Europe since the Moldy Peaches' 2004 sabbatical and has produced a series of low-fidelity handmade CDs. On September 10, 2008, Dawson released Alphabutt, an album for kids.
Glue and The Guatemalan Handshake, which premiered at the 2007 Olympia Film Festival, includes Dawson's music. Dawson wrote and performed the 9/11-themed song "Anthrax" in 2008 for the documentary Body of War. Their collaboration with the Moldy Peaches on the song "Anyone Else But You" was used in the documentary Murderball, which followed a wheelchair rugby team. Juno, another film, featured this song.
