Kim Richey (December 1, 1956) is an American singer and songwriter from Zanesville, Ohio. Her music is defined as country and folk. Richey stepped into the music scene in the 1990s, and at the age of 37, she entered her first recording contract. Trisha Yearwood has recorded many songs by Richey, such as “Believe Me Baby (I Lied)” as well as by Brooks & Dunn; “Every River” and Radney Foster; “Nobody Wins.”
Kim Richey released her self-titled debut album in 1995, which was produced by Richard Bennett. The two notable singles included in this album are “Just My Luck” and “Those Words We Said.” Bitter Sweet was her follow-up album that was released in 1996 and produced by Angelo. The third album by Richey was Glimmer that came out in 1999. The album was produced by Hugh Padgham (XTC) and featured guitarist Dominic Miller (Sting).
In 2002, Richey released another studio album entitled Rise, produced by Bill Bottrell. Another album, produced by Neilson Hubbard and featuring guest vocals from Trisha Yearwood, was released in 2013, titled Thorn In My Heart. In 2014, a limited-edition version of the album was released, named Thorn in My Heart: The Work Tapes. Richey was on guitar as well as vocals for this album. The latest album by Richey was Edgeland that was released on March 30, 2018.
Some of the notable singles by Richey are “Those Words We Said,” “From Where I Stand,” “The Way It Never Was,” “The Circus Song (Can’t Let Go),” and “Whistle on Occasion."
