Kim Mitchell Information
Joseph Kim Mitchell (July 10, 1952) is a Canadian musician. He was born in Sarnia, Ontario. Mitchell went to Sarnia's St. Clair Secondary School. Mitchell began playing with local bands in Sarnia in the 1970s. Mitchell and "Zooom" traveled to Toronto, Ontario, after going through a few name changes with essentially the same band. Mitchell traveled to the Greek islands when Zooom was disbanded. When he returned to Canada, he established the band, Max Webster with Pye Dubois, a fellow Sarnia native. Max Webster went on many tours and had a lot of success. Mitchell's solo career began with session work and a string of solo albums following his departure from Max Webster in 1982.
Mitchell began his career in radio broadcasting as an afternoon drivetime host on Q107 (CILQ-FM), a Toronto classic rock radio station, from April 2004 to August 2015. Mitchell received the National Achievement Award from SOCAN at the 2004 SOCAN Awards in Toronto on November 15, 2004. Mitchell contributed a guitar solo to the Barenaked Ladies' song "Wind It Up" from the album Barenaked Ladies Are Me in 2006. On July 16, 2007, Mitchell opened for Def Leppard at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto. Ain't Life Amazing; his seventh studio album was released on July 17, 2007.
