Kevin Johansen Information
Kevin Johansen (June 21, 1964) is an American-born, Argentine singer, musician, and songwriter. He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. They relocated to Phoenix in 1969, where his sister Karina was born. Soon after, his parents split, and his mother and children relocated to San Francisco. He began playing guitar and writing lyrics at the age of 14, and by the end of high school, he had decided to pursue a career as a musician.
In the 1980s, Johansen made a brief cameo in the local rock scene with Julian Benjamin's band Instrucción Civica, which issued two albums: Obediencia Debida in 1985 and Instrucción Civica in 1986. By the end of 2002, Johansen had published the now-classic album Sur o no Sur, distributed in Argentina by Los Aos Luz and internationally by Sony Music. In June of that year, Johansen had more success in Argentina in 2003, performing at the Gran Rex Theatre, the city's largest venue. He promoted his new record with concerts in Madrid and Barcelona, which drew larger crowds this time.
Before the release of Sur o no Sur in the United States, Johansen played at the MTV Latin Awards. He began a series of concerts in Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
