Keane Information
Keane is a British band originating from Battle, East Sussex, England. The group was formed in 1995 playing alternative rock. Tom Chaplin (lead vocals, acoustic/electric guitar, piano), Tim Rice-Oxley (piano, synthesizers, bass guitar, backing vocals), Richard Hughes (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Jesse Quin (bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar, backing vocals) make up the current lineup of the band.
With the release of 2004's Hopes and Fears, Keane entered the global mainstream. Best British Album at the 2005 Brit Awards, this album also topped the UK album sales list and was the country's number two best-selling album of 2004. It's one of the albums with the most success on the UK album chart.
Their 2006 second album, Under the Iron Sea, topped the UK Albums Chart and debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200. Their third album, Perfect Symmetry, was published in October of 2008. After its May 2012 release, their fourth studio album, Strangeland, quickly climbed to the top of the UK Albums Chart.
On June 6, 2019, the band announced their fifth studio album, Cause and Effect, and released the lead song, "The Way I Feel".
Keane made the announcement on April 9, 2021, through all of their social media channels that they would be taking part in Record Store Day 2021 Drop 2 on the 17th of July. The EP's new title track, "Dirt," and its music video premiered on YouTube and Apple Music on July 17. This news was shared alongside the EP's official release date of August 13, 2021.
