The Kansas City Mavericks are an ice hockey team based in Independence, Missouri. The team was originally founded as the Missouri Mavericks (2009-2017). The franchise plays in the Western Conference’s division Mountain of the ECHL. The Mavericks are under Lamar Hunt Jr.’s ownership, and Brent Thiessen serves as the current general manager. The head coach of the team is Tad O’Had. The franchise’s notable affiliates are Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
The Central Hockey League announced Independence’s expansion team on April 16, 2009, to begin to play in the 2009–10 season. On June 24, 2009, the Missouri Mavericks’ logo, name, and jersey colors were announced. The current color scheme of the franchise includes orange, silver, white, and black in the uniform. Some of the team’s former head coaches are Scott Hillman, Richard Matvichuk, and John-Scott Dickson.
