Kaina Castillo (January 22, 1996) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. At the tender age of nine, she began exploring artists like Stevie Wonder, Celia Cruz, and Oscar D'León. She has also shared her talents as a performer with the non-profit organization The Happiness Club, which provides a safe environment for young people of all backgrounds to experiment with the performing and visual arts. There, she spent two years learning the ins and outs of the public relations and advertising industries.
Her new single, "Green," came out at the start of 2019. The music video shows her having supper with her family in Chicago. Next to the Sun, Castillo's first full-length album was released by Sooper Records on July 12, 2019. Castillo released a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Come Back as a Flower," accompanied by a music video, on August 9, 2021. Castillo's second studio album featured this cover as the album's lead single. On November 2, 2021, a second single, "Casita," was made available to the public. As her second studio album was announced, the third single, "Anybody Can Be In Love," was released.
It Was a Home, distributed by City Slang, came out on March 4, 2022. Collaborations with Sen Morimoto, Sleater-Kinney, and Helado Negro may be found on the second album. The album dropped on Tuesday, while the "Golden Mirror" single came out on Thursday. Castillo officially confirmed It Was a Home Tour in the United States in April 2022.
