Junior Brown Information
Jamieson "Junior" Brown (June 12, 1952) is an American country singer and guitarist from Cottonwood, Arizona. His family moved to Kirksville, Indiana, when he was very young. Brown learned to play piano from his dad, Samuel Emmons Brown Jr. He started his musical career in the 1960s and worked hard throughout the decade. His music style is defined as Texas country, Neotraditional country, Outlaw country, Americana, and Ameripolitan. Brown started singing and playing pedal steel and guitar for groups such as Dusty Drapes and the Dusters, The Last Mile Ramblers, and Asleep at the Wheel.
By the mid-1980s, Brown was teaching at the Hank Thompson School of Country Music, which is situated at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. He created a unique double-neck guitar in 1985, with some help from Michael Stevens. Brown named the instrument "guit-steel." It is played by standing behind it, while it rests on a small music stand.
Brown immediately earned local success in Austin, Texas. 12 Shades of Brown (1990) was the debut album by him, which was re-released in 1993 on Curb Records. This was followed by It, Semi Crazy, Long Walk Back (1997), Mixed Bag, Down Home Chrome, Greatest Hits, Live at the Continental Club: The Austin Experience, Volume Ten, and Deep In The Heart Of Me. Some of his hit singles are "Highway Patrol," "My Wife Thinks You're Dead," and "Gotta Sell Them Chickens."
Brown joined Webb Wilder's tour of American minor league baseball stadiums, which started in August 2006. He, along with his wife, began hosting a series of live Facebook concerts in May 2020 by the name "The Junior & Tanya Rae Brown Show."
