Josyara is a musician, singer, songwriter, and arranger based out of Juazeiro, BA. She started singing at local nightclubs, then moved on to bigger venues in Bahia and other festivals.
The album "Uni Versos" was released in 2012 and partly funded by Petrobras. Intercenas Musicales, Invaso Cultural, MINAVU, and Radioca are just a few of the prestigious events where he has played. She has shared the stage with notable artists, including Alessandra Leo, Tiê, and Elba Ramalho. The album "Mansa Fria," released in 2018, features 12 new compositions from the artist. Natura Musical provided funding, and Giro Plano Cultural oversaw the record production.
Josyara, whose influences include Gal Costa, Chico César, Caetano Veloso, Cátia de França, and Belchior, has changed her stage name and is embarking on a new era of her career. The artist, formerly Josy Lélis, is proud of her riverbank upbringing and is now going by her first name.
Josyara's original and cover songs showcase the power and nuance of her voice through intricate arrangements that move fluidly between the rhythms of several Brazilian states (mostly the serto) and more universal sounds.
