Joscelyn Eve Stoker is an English singer, actress, and songwriter born in Dover, Kent, better known by her stage name, Joss Stone. She gained major attention in 2003 when her debut album went multi-platinum, entitled “The Soul Sessions.” It even made it to the Mercury Prize shortlist in 2004. Similarly, her second album, “Mind Body & Soul,” was also a multi-platinum record and topped the UK Albums Chart for nearly a week. Her single “You Had Me” is known as the most successful single on the UK Singles Chart thus far.
The album and single of Stone both received a 2005 Grammy Awards nomination with Stone also being nominated for the Best New Artist. In an annual BBC poll of music, she was nominated for the “Sound of 2004." After all these successes, she became the youngest British female to top the UK Albums Chart.
Stone signed record deals with the different record labels over the period, including Relentless, S-Curve, Universal, Surfdog, Stone’d, and Virgin. She has performed many tours in her career, such as Introducing Joss Stone World Tour (2007-08), Colour Me Free! World Tour (2009-11), LP1 World Tour (2011-12), and The Total World Tour (2014-19).
Joss Stone has also appeared in many films, including An Evening of Stars: Tribute to Quincy Jones (2005), Eragon (2006), Snappers (2008), The Funeral Planner (2010), and a few more.
