Josh Phillips Information
Josh Phillips (December 19, 1962) is a rock composer and keyboardist. He was born in Rochester, Kent. He replaced Matthew Fisher, the band's original organist, in 2004 and played Hammond organ with Procol Harum until their dissolution in 2022.
At sixteen, he launched his career by playing organ on the Quadrophenia soundtrack; he and his band Cross Section also appeared in the film. He played keyboards for Diamond Head from 1983 to 1984. Big Country, Leo Sayer, Pete Townshend, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Kenney Jones, Starlite Campbell Band, Ronan Keating, Alisha's Attic, Heatwave, Midge Ure, Eric Clapton, and Paul McCartney are just some of the artists he has written for or performed with.
He has collaborated with Dan McGrath to create the scores for numerous television programs, such as Strictly Come Dancing and Take Me Out. As the American equivalent of "Strictly Come Dancing," "Dancing with the Stars" has won a slew of ASCAP Awards for its music. The Procol Harum album Novum (2017) features some of his writing as well. His song "Suburban House," which was covered by Leo Sayer, was written with Andrew Brel. Many albums were credited to him in the 1980s when he was known as Josh/Jonathan Phillips-Gorse.
