Jose Luis Perales Information
José Luis Perales Morillas (January 18, 1945) is a Spanish singer-songwriter, is from Castejón, Cuenca Province. Perales plays Latin pop, jazz, and romantic ballad music genres. He also plays guitar and vocals. From an early age, Perales gained an interest in music. He learned to play the lute at the age of six. He studied at the Universidad Laboral of Seville on a scholarship at the age of 16. During his university, Perales learned guitar and observed that music would take a special place in his life.
He began his career initially with composing music. This was due to the reason that Perales did not felt comfortable with singing at that time. Also, he was not sure about his girlfriend, Manuela, for supporting him. He began singing when his mother, Mariana, encouraged him. Perales used to sing at some local festivals until he met Rafael Trabucchelli (an Italian influential music producer) in the year 1970.
Since then, his music career took off. Perales composed "Porque te vas" (Because you are leaving) that sold 4 million copies across the globe (1976). "Celos de mi Guitarra" was his first recording that ended up being a huge success for José Luis Perales. He left his job after this success (which was a hard decision indeed) and took his music career seriously.
To date, Perales has recorded around 27 albums that sold 50 million copies worldwide. Some of his popular discographies are Mis Canciones (My Songs) 1973, Para Vosotros Canto (For You I Sing) 1975, Como La Lluvia Fresca (Like Fresh Rain) 1978, A Mis Amigos (To My Friends) 1990, En Clave De Amor (In The Key of Love) 1996, Calle Soledad (Street of Loneliness) 2012, Calma (album) (Calm), 2016, and many more.
Perales has performed concerts in Venezuela, Colombia, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Brazil, Italy, France, and at a few more locations. He received the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes on February 18, 2019.
