John Tesh Information
John Frank Tesh (July 9, 1952) is an American radio host, news anchor, sportscaster, composer and pianist of pop music. He is from Garden City, New York, and graduated from Garden City High School in 1970. Tesh began playing the piano and trumpet at the age of six and, in high school, played the organ in a rock band while also being part of the New York State Symphonic Orchestra. He studied music and communications at North Carolina State University and took a TV and radio course while attending college. He used to work part-time, reading the news for Rick Dees at WKIX-FM-Raleigh.
Tesh's genre is defined to be pop, contemporary worship, and 20th-century classical music. He started his television career in the 1970s as a news anchor and reporter at WSM-TV in Nashville, Tennessee. After reaching New York's WCBS-TV, at the age of 22, Tesh was one of the youngest reporters. He gained fame when Tesh co-hosted the television show Entertainment Tonight from 1986 to 1996. He also was as a sportscaster for CBS and later NBC. One on One with John Tesh was a short-lived talk show hosted by Tesh. He also co-hosted the show John & Leeza From Hollywood.
As a musician, Tesh released many notable studio albums such as 1987: Music from the Tour de France, Vol. I, 1989: Garden City, 1992: Ironman Triathlon, 1993: Monterey Nights, 1994: Sax by the Fire, 1997: Sax All Night, and 2000: Pure Hymns. Tesh also released many Live and Compilation albums.
The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, in 2018, inducted Tesh, and the next year, the National Radio Hall of Fame did the same. He also won the Syndicated Personality/Show of the Year award in 2017.
