John Oates Information
John William Oates (April 7, 1948) is an American musician born in New York City. Oates was a North Penn High School senior when he won the Section 2 wrestling title at 127 pounds and served as team co-captain from 1965–196. He and the Masters cut their debut single, "I Need Your Love, " for Philadelphia's Crimson Records" in 1966. John graduated from North Penn High School in 1966 and studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he met Daryl Hall, a senior at the time and a professional musician.
They have racked up ten number-one albums, twenty Top 40 singles, and a global fan base throughout their decades-long career. In 1985, they participated in the inaugural Live Aid concert and released the charity track "We Are the World." Many contemporary bands, such as Gym Class Heroes and the Killers, have recognized their influence and contributions to modern American pop music.
On February 2, 2018, he and his new band, The Good Road Band, released an Arkansas album. Oates had stated that the album is a link to his interest in traditional delta, country blues, and ragtime music from before he was a part of Hall & Oates.
