John Melendez Information
John Edward Melendez (October 4, 1965) is an American podcast host, announcer, television writer, actor, comedian, radio personality, and singer. Melendez was a member of the band "Rock Slide" and a student at NYU's film school in 1988. Before Melendez sought a reference for an internship with The Howard Stern Show, his college friend, comic Mitch Fatel, was on the point of quitting his internship there.
Melendez's segments became increasingly well-known when he asked celebrities tough questions at red carpet events, gatherings, promotional appearances, and press conferences. The juvenile questions, written by Howard Stern, Fred Norris, and Jackie Martling, focused on the intimate lives of the celebrities and were based on the assumption that they would not want to look bad by denying an interview with someone who stammered.
It wasn't until June 1994, when a shortened version of Stern's morning radio show began showing nightly on E!: Entertainment Television, a basic cable network nationwide coverage in the United States, that Melendez became a household name nationally. Melendez received a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 1994, the same year his self-titled album was released alongside a song video that aired on MTV's Headbangers Ball.
