John Lloyd Young Information
John Lloyd Mills Young (July 4, 1975) is an American actor and singer from Sacramento, California. Partly raised in Plattsburgh, NY, he attended Plattsburgh High School and acted in their drama department. He moved to NYC and worked his way up through the ranks of the theater scene with roles in several different off-Broadway and regional plays. Some of these include the New York-area premiere of Michael Healey's The Drawer Boy, Julia Jordan's The Summer of the Swans, Douglas Langworthy's translation of Wedekind's Spring Awakening, and Rinne Groff's The Five Hysterical Girls Theorem.
Young was named as one of the best-featured actors in a play as "Danny Saunders" in Aaron Posner, by the New Jersey Star-Ledger. Young has also performed at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, New Year's Eve in Times Square, Yankee Stadium, the New York City Marathon, and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He debuted his visual art in May 2010 in "Food for Thought," a show that benefits AIDS Project Los Angeles, at Willis Wonderland. A few of his other extensive charity work includes frequent appearances with, and support of, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, AIDS Project Los Angeles, Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang, amfAR, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and the United Service Organization (USO).
"My Turn..." was the debut album by Young that was released on July 3, 2012. It was later expanded and re-released with eight more new tracks in 2014. Young has won many significant awards, including Tony Award 2006 for the Best Actor in a Musical, Drama Desk Award 2006 for the Best Actor in a Musical, Outer Critics Circle Award 2006, Theatre World Award 2006, Grammy Award 2006, and a nomination for a Drama League Award.
