John Conlee Information
John Wayne Conlee (August 11, 1946) is an American country music singer. He was born in Versailles, Kentucky. Conlee began singing and playing guitar when he was just ten years old. In 1971, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his musical career. In 1976, Conlee signed his first record deal with ABC Records. In 1978, Conlee released “Rose Colored Glasses” that hit number 5 on the Billboard Country Singles charts. The song was also the title track for his debut album, which was released in 1978.
Conlee released his second studio album “Forever” in 1979 with MCA Records. This happened because ABC had merged with MCA Records. Some super singles from this album including “Baby, You’re Something” and “Before My Time” charted at number 7 and number 2, respectively. His next album on MCA Records was Friday Night Blues. Thi album also produced two more hits that reached number 2, including the title track and “She Can’t Say That Anymore.” The singles were followed by “What I Had with You” that reached number 12. Conlee has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1981.
Conlee’s other successful studio albums include With Love (1981), Busted (1982), In My Eyes (1983), Blue Highway (1984), Harmony (1986), American Faces (1987), Fellow Travelers (1989), and Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (2004). Apart from ABC and MCA, Conlee has also worked with Columbia Records and 16th Avenue.
