John Anderson Information
John David Anderson (December 13, 1954) is an American country singer. He was a member of a rock band until he was fifteen years old when he began listening to country artists like Merle Haggard and George Jones. After unexpectedly dropping by his sister's house in 1971, Anderson relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he played in clubs at night and worked odd jobs during the day, such as roofing the Grand Ole Opry House.
Anderson has charted over 40 singles on the Billboard country music charts since his debut in 1977 with "I've Got a Feelin' (Somebody's Been Stealin')." Among these, five have reached number one: "Wild and Blue," "Swingin'," "Black Sheep," "Straight Tequila Night," and "Money in the Bank." Additionally, he has released 22 studio albums under multiple labels.
Produced by Nashville stalwart David Ferguson and Black Keys member Dan Auerbach, his most recent album, Years, came out on the Easy Eye Sound label on April 10, 2020. On October 5, 2014, Anderson was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. After waiting ten years, in 2024, he finally got his country music hall of fame induction.
