Joseph Akinwale (May 21, 1997) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is professionally known by his stage name, Joeboy. He used his share of the emPawa100 award to fund a music video production for the Mr. Eazi collaboration "Fààj," which dropped on October 26, 2018. On March 1, 2019, Joeboy dropped his new track "Baby," which has racked up over 20 million streams between YouTube and Spotify. Over 31 million views of the "Baby" visualizer music video have been on YouTube.
Joeboy's "Beginning," produced by Killertunes, was released on August 15, 2019, with a visualizer music video that has now amassed 23 million views on YouTube. In the clip, he starts to develop feelings for a friend he had previously rejected. After that, in November of 2019, emPawa Africa launched his first EP, titled Love & Light. Baby" and "Beginning" were the album's first two single releases.
Don't Call Me," which features Mayorkun, and "All for You" round out the EP. The 2019 All Africa Music Awards and the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival named Joeboy Best Artiste in African Pop. Several City People Entertainment Awards and The Headies considered him for awards. Joeboy dropped "Call," a track produced by Dera, on April 10, 2020.
