Jillette Johnson Information
Jillette Johnson (June 3, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician from New York City. She was born in California. Johnson got an early start in music, where she learned to play piano at the age of 5. By the age of 8, she had already begun writing her music. Johnson began playing three-hour sets of original music at a restaurant near her home while she was just 12 years old.
On June 25, 2013, Johnson released her debut studio album entitled Water in a Whale. It was released via Wind-Up Records. She then released her sophomore record that Dave Cobb produced. The album entitled, All I Ever See in You is Me. It was released on Rounder Records in 2017.
At the age of 18, Johnson moved to Manhattan to live full-time and pursue her music career. She also attended New York University during her time there. On August 14, 2012, she released her debut EP entitled, Whiskey and Frosting. The discography was again released on Wind-Up Records. The EP contains five tracks; all of them were written by Johnson herself in her apartment over the previous year. According to her, “When The Ship Goes Down” is the best track she has ever written so far.
Johnson released her next studio album entitled, It’s a Beautiful Day, and I Love You on February 12, 2021. The album was recorded in East Nashville and produced by Joe Pisapia. The album has garnered praise from many big music industry names such as Refinery29, CMT, American Songwriter, and Rolling Stone.
