Jerusalem Quartet Information
The Jerusalem Quartet is an Israeli string quartet founded in 1996 and made its debut the same year. The performance repertoire of the quartet is scattered on a wide scale. It includes the works of Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Dmitri Shostakovich. The Jerusalem Quartet has extensively toured worldwide. Three of the recordings by the quartet have won BBC Music Magazine Awards.
The Jerusalem Quartet recorded thirteen albums while enjoying a deal with the Harmonia Mundi label. The quartet celebrated its 20th season in 2016 by releasing a two-CD album of six string quartets op. 18 by Beethoven. The quartet toured Australia, United States, and several European countries for promotion of this album.
The original lineup of The Jerusalem Quartet included the violist Amihai Grosz, who joined the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010 as a principal. He also plays with the Philharmonic Octet Berlin. Some of the other members are Alexander Pavlovsky - first violin, Sergei Bresler - second violin, Ori Kam – viola, and Kyril Zlotnikov - cello.
