Jerry Joseph Information
Jerry Joseph (April 19, 1961) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Los Angeles, California. After having difficulties in high school, his parents transferred him to a boarding school in New Zealand, where he began his professional music career as a guitarist at fifteen. While there, he ran into more issues with juvenile delinquency and was eventually sent back to the United States. He settled in Arcata, California, close to the ancestral homes of multiple branches of his family.
Joseph put out an album called The Welcome Hunters in 1993 that featured Little Women-esque performances by James, Esparza, and Gregg Williams on drums. Widespread Panic's Climb To Safety, a smash from their earlier albums, was included here for the first time. A new lineup of musicians, including bassist Dave Schools, recorded Joseph's 1994 solo album Love & Happiness for Back Door Records. Muscle Shoals, Alabama, was the site of the record's recording.
After relocating to Utah in 1996, Joseph founded the band Jackmormons with JR Ruppel on bass, Jim Bone on drums, and Dave Pellicciaro on keyboards. First released in 1996 with Butte, Montana 1879, the band followed it up in 1997 with Cotton. Following some lineup changes, the band released Goodlandia and Salt Lake City with its current three-piece lineup consisting of Joseph, Rosen, and Ruppel.
