Camille Berthomier (December 24, 1984), professionally known as Jehnny Beth, is a French musician, actress, singer, and songwriter. Beth is well-known as the frontwoman of the English rock band Savages along with half of a French lo-fi duo John & Jehn. Her music is defined as post-punk, noise rock, and indie rock. To learn piano and singing, she had her first music lessons at the age of eight.
Camille Berthomier began her theatrical and musical career at an early age by playing the title role in Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt. By 10, she had performed her first piano recital. Berthomier was trained in dramatic arts at the conservatoire de Poitiers, and in late 2006, she moved to London. She moved with Nicolas Congé (aka Johnny Hostile), the other half of John & Jehn, to pursue their career as a duo. The two released two albums, and the pair also included Savages' founding member Gemma Thompson.
In 2005, Camille Berthomier played the lead role in the mystery/suspense French film, which was directed by Jean-Paul Civeyrac. She also played a role in 2009 as Mary–Jane in a horror French film Sodium Babies. Berthomier performed live independently on June 27, 2016, to open for PJ Harvey at the Eden Project in Cornwall, England.
"Personal" was the first solo album by Berthomier that was released on June 12, 2020.
