Jeff Tweedy Information
Jeffrey Scot Tweedy (August 25, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is from Belleville, Illinois, and is popular as the guitarist and singer of the Wilco band. His music style is described as an alternative country and alternative rock genres. Tweedy attended Belleville Area College and later joined Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for graduation.
Tweedy joined a rockabilly band that was known by the name The Plebes, along with his brothers. The band was renamed as The Primitives in 1984 and later to Uncle Tupelo. The band broke up in January 1994, and in the same year, Tweedy founded Wilco along with John Stirratt, and two more. Some of the hit albums released under this band are; Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Sky Blue Sky, A Ghost Is Born, Wilco. The band also released two collaborations with The Minus 5 and another with Billy Bragg.
Tweedy also released three albums as a solo artist entitled Together at Last (2017), Warm (2018), and Warmer (2019). He has also performed many solo tours where he plays acoustic music. Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest is a Live DVD by Tweedy, which was released by Nonesuch Records on October 24, 2006. Tweedy performed many concerts at Seattle's Moore Theater, Portland's Crystal Ballroom, Arcata's Humboldt State University, Eugene's McDonald Theatre, and The Fillmore in San Francisco.
Tweedy has also released a book entitled Adult Head on Zoo Press. The book is comprised of forty-three poems. The band Wilco by Tweedy received Grammy Awards for Best Recording Package and Best Alternative Music Album in the year 2005. Tweedy also released his first memoir by the name Let's Go (So We Can Get Back) in November 2018.
