Jason Joel Desrouleaux is an American singer and songwriter. He is professionally known as Jason Derulo. Derulo joined the record company Beluga Heights, run by seasoned record producer J. R. Rotem, after penning songs for several singers.
Derulo launched his music career in 2009 with the release of his first single, "Whatcha Say," after Warner Music Group acquired Beluga Heights. It was a smashing success with five million digital downloads, a triple platinum certification from the RIAA, and a top spot in both the US and NZ.
"When Love Sucks" is a single by Derulo was dropped on May 18, 2023. It features Dido, who sampled "Thank You" from her 2002 album. In the 18th season finale of America's Got Talent, Derulo and Meghan Trainor performed a medley of their upcoming singles "Hands on Me" and "Take You Dancing" on September 27, 2023. Derulo started uploading videos to TikTok after his nieces and nephews showed him the app.
Because of the large number of people who follow him, he now has one of the platform's most followed accounts. His first studio album since 2015's Everything is 4 was the eagerly anticipated Nu King, which was released on February 16, 2024. Songs like "Take You Dancing," "Love Not War (The Tampa Beat)," and "Lifestyle"—along with his most recent single, "Hands on Me"—which featured Meghan Trainor—are included in the album as singles.
