Jason Boland & The Stragglers is an American band founded in 1998 from Harrah, Oklahoma. The group’s music is classified as Red Dirt and Texas Country. The current lineup of Jason Boland & The Stragglers consists of Brad Rice (percussion), Jason Boland (lead vocalist and guitar), Nick Worley (fiddle and mandolin), and Grant Tracy (bass). Some of the past members include Roger Dale Ray, Dana Hazzard, Jeremy Watkins, Noah Jeffries, and Cody Angel.
Jason Boland and Brad Rice are two members who met while attending Oklahoma State University. Pearl Snaps was the first studio album by the group, released in 1999. It was followed by their other hit albums entitled Truckstop Diaries and Somewhere in the Middle in 2001 and 2004, respectively. In 2002, a concert at Fort Worth, Texas, was recorded for Live and Lit at Billy Bob’s Texas by the group.
The Bourbon Legend is another hit album by Jason Boland & The Stragglers released in 2006 on Bruce Robison’s Sustain Records label. The album was produced by a longtime Dwight Yoakam collaborator Pete Anderson. Some other notable albums by the band are Comal County Blue (August 26, 2008), Rancho Alto (October 4, 2011), and Dark & Dirty Mile (May 14, 2013).
