Jake Sherman, a native Bostonian who honed his classical piano chops by listening to his father play Bach every morning, is credited with helping to popularize the genre. He might have followed in his father's footsteps or become a jazz purist if he hadn't stumbled onto the Weird Al Yankovic discography when he was only 11 years old and had his worldview completely upended. Weird Al, though, ushered in a new era. Jake formed a parody band and performed his rewritten versions of songs by artists like Smashmouth's "All-Star" and Will Smith's "Men in Black," as well as his original works like "Amy, You're Turning 49" and "Charles, Charles Sherman."
Some time has passed since Jake's time at Berklee College of Music, and it's evident that he's figured out a way to blend his love of great songs with his skill on the piano and organ.
