Jaimie Branch Information
Jaimie Branch (June 17, 1983) is an American composer and trumpeter. Branch returned to Chicago after completing his degree and has since worked as a musician, organizer, and sound engineer in the city's music scene, collaborating with artists such as Jason Ajemian (on The Art of Dying, 2006), Keefe Jackson's Project Project (on Just Like This, 2007), Tim Daisy's New Fracture Quartet (on 1000 Lights, 2008), Anton Hatwich, and Ken Vandermark.
In addition to her work with Tim Daisy and Daniel Levin, Matt Schneider and Jason Adasiewicz, and Chris Velkommen and Sam Weinberg, she also performed with the trio Princess, Princess, which featured Summerfield on bass and Rosaly on drums, in both Chicago and New York. She formed the band Block and Tackle with Jason Stein, Jeb Bishop, and Jason Roebke. Between 2006 and 2008, she contributed to five different albums. Branch began collaborating with numerous notable artists, including Fred Lonberg-Holm, Mike Pride, Luke Stewart, Jason Nazary, Tcheser Holmes, and many others, once she relocated to Brooklyn in the spring of 2015.
In addition, she contributed vocals to records by the alternative rock bands Never Enough Hope, Local H, and Atlas Moth. 2017 saw the release of her self-titled solo debut, with guest appearances from Tomeka Reid, Jason Ajemian, Chad Taylor, Matt Schneider (guitar), Ben LaMar Gay, and Josh Berman (cornet). NPR Music has named Fly or Die one of the year's best 50 albums.
