Taylor, the youngest son of migrant agricultural workers, lived his childhood in a world unlike Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath."
Taylor's music is reflective of his disadvantaged upbringing. He spent his formative years on fruit farms in California, Washington, and Montana. The scope of Taylor's musical impact is wide. He worked in the studio with the Luminaries, Jason Boland and Austin, Texas' own Dale Watson. Other examples are Lucky Tubb, a rockabilly troubadour, and the Pear Rats, a rock band from south Texas. He has performed alongside numerous well-known musicians, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes, Willie Nelson, and Billy Joe Shaver.
Taylor's early career was plagued by his abuse of drugs and alcohol and his tendency toward violent outbursts. This resulted in him being banned from numerous establishments. He has found his footing and is poised to take his place in Texas music history.
