Jackie Greene Information
Jackie Greene (November 27, 1980) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Salinas, California, and grew up in Cameron Park near Sacramento. While living there, Greene developed his interest in music and began playing the piano. He began to play guitar at 14 and became capable of sitting with local bar bands within a short period. He completed his graduation from Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills and soon started to compose his songs as his skill progressed over time.
Greene released his debut album on DIG Music in late 2002, entitled “Gone Wanderin.” In 2003, the album won the California Music Award for the Best Blues/ Roots Albums category and remained on the national Americana charts for over a year. He released his second studio album entitled “Rusty Nails” in 2003.
Greene has toured nationally with many notable artists, including Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Susan Tedeschi, Huey Lewis, Ratdog, Phil Lesh, B.B. King, Mark Knopfler, Los Lobos, and Gov’t Mule. He has also played several major festivals in the United States, including Rothbury, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Winnipeg Folk, Wakarusa, South by Southwest, Newport Folk, Newport Jazz, Grateful Garcia Gathering, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, and All Good.
Jackie Greene has worked on a few record labels throughout his career, including Verve Forecast and 429 Records. His notable studio albums include Sweet Somewhere Bound (2004), American Myth (2006), Giving Up the Ghost (2008), Small Tempest (2009), Till the Light Comes (2010), Back to Birth (2015), and The Dig Years (2017).
