Ivy Lab Information
Ivy Lab, a North London ensemble that began as a trio, was drawn together by a similar interest in experimenting on the margins of the UK bass music scene. In the years afterward, they've gone from strength to strength, winning a spot in Mixmag's 'Top 10 DJs of 2015' and spreading a new generation of hip-hop inspired abstractions through their '20/20 LDN' project.
With the introduction of their '20/20 LDN' club night, Ivy Lab engaged even more in this sound research. It was described as "super creative" (Timeout Magazine) and a "London highlight" because it was largely housed at Brixton's Phonox nightclub (Mixmag).
20/20 LDN Recordings was founded in late 2015, with the pseudo-mixtape/compilation LP "Ivy Lab presents 20/20 Volume.1" – regarded as "uncompromising, insightful, and quite awesome: 9/10" (Mixmag) and "difficult to categorize: 9/10" (Mixmag) (DJ Mag). After a little over a year, the label was named 'Best Breakthrough Label 2016' at the DJ Mag 'Best of British Awards 2016 (and only five releases).
Ivy Lab enters the future not just with a firm foothold at the forefront of the bass-music scene but also with a solid reputation as trailblazing label bosses and event producers in charge of one of the UK's most interesting current music labels.
