Irish Mythen Information
Irish Mythen is a Canadian-born Irish modern folk musician. Recently, Mythen has shared festival stages around the globe with such notable acts as Rod Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, and Lucinda Williams. Sweet Necessity (2008) and Open Here (2011) were Mythen's first full-length recordings. They relocated to PEI in 2007, and 2016 her song "Gypsy Dancer" received the Songwriter of the Year award. Her 2015 Irish Mythen was named Roots Record of the Year by the East Coast Music Association.
Mythen is "rambunctious, thoughtful, tender, and loud," as ABC Radio National characterizes it. The Guardian newspaper highlighted her and other female performers at the 2018 Cambridge Folk Festival, praising new (as of 2017) festival booker Bev Burton's female-heavy lineup for the festival. She is scheduled to make her third appearance at Australia's premier folk and roots event Byron Bay Bluesfest in 2019.
In addition to winning the Canadian Folk Music Award for Solo Artist of the Year at the 15th Annual Canadian Folk Music Awards, her record "Little Bones" was nominated for the 2020 Juno Award in the Contemporary Roots Record of the Year category.
