ionnalee Information
Jonna Emily Lee (October 3, 1981) is a Swedish songwriter, singer, visual director, and record producer. She is from Linköping, Sweden, and is often known by her other name, “ionnalee.” Lee is also an artist and creator of the online audiovisual project popular as iamamiwhoami. Her music is often described as folk-pop, art-pop, indie-pop, and electro-pop.
Lee used to record her records and released it via her website. Later, she got signed to Swedish indie label, Razzia Records, in the year 2007. Through this label, two solo albums were released by Lee along with one EP named 10 Pieces, 10 Bruises; This Is Jonna Lee and The War EP. The first album included some hit songs such as "Dried Out Eyes" and "And Your Love." This War was a five-track EP, which was released in September 2008 while This Is Jonna Lee was released in February 2009.
Lee has also released films and music under the pseudonym “iamwhoiam,” along with her visual collaborators and Claes Bjorklund (producer). She also worked as the presenter between 2009 and 2011 for the live program P3 SESSION Sveriges Radio P3.
Under the name “ionnalee,” she released many singles and albums as well. Some of the most notable are; "Samaritan" (2017), "Not Human," "Simmer Down," "Gone," "Dunes of Sand," "Open Sea," "Remember the Future," "Paramount," "Blazing," and a few more. Everyone Afraid to Be Forgotten (February 16, 2018) and Remember the Future (May 31, 2019) were the two albums by Lee.
Lee was the winner of three awards as iamamiwhoami, whereas her album This Is Jonna Lee was selected as the "Next Big Thing" on iTunes USA's front page (2009). She was also one of the top 5 members for the SXSW 2010 Next Big Sound list. Lee was also the winner of a cultural achievement award from her hometown Linköping.
