Indian Idol Information
The format of Pop Idol has been adapted for Indian audiences called Indian Idol. The first season aired in India in 2004-2005, followed by seasons two through four in 2005-2006, 2007-2009, and 2008-2009. The fifth season premiered on Sony Entertainment Television in February 2010.
On April 26, 2010, Sony TV aired the fifth season of Indian Idol, in which Sreeram Chandra from Hyderabad, India, was crowned the winner. One year deal with Sony Entertainment Television worth the Indian Rupee symbol was handed to the winner of Indian Idol 5 in addition to a recording contract with Sony BMG. In addition to the svg5,000,000 prize, Sony Entertainment Television announced that the winner would receive a Suzuki GS-150R motorcycle, a Tata Winger Platinum automobile, and a role as a playback singer in a Yash Raj Films upcoming film. In addition, one of the Top 5 Contestants would have the chance to work as a Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM RJ.
Both Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and composer Salim Merchant will serve as judges next season. Anu Malik, the show's third judge, has served as a judge since its inception in 2004.
