Ifetayo Ali-Landing Information
Ifetayo Ali-Landing is an American multi-instrumentalist and the Sphinx Competition Junior Division First-Place Laureate for 2017. She has also performed with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. Ifetayo has enjoyed playing piano, singing, and dancing since her childhood. She had already started musical studies on the violin before she reached the age of four, but as soon as she reached the age of four, Ifetayo switched to cello. Her coaches and teachers who taught her music include Martine Benmann at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute in Chicago. Others include Hans Jorgen Jensen, Oleksa Mycyk, Tahirah Whittington, Megan Lauterbach, and Lucinda Ali-Landing.
Ifetayo has also studied music at the summer music camps of the Young Artists Program, Meadowmount School of Music, Sphinx Performance Academy, Illinois Wesleyan University, and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. Ifetayo has performed with many other orchestras throughout her career, such as Chicago Sinfonietta, Elgin Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, South Bend Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Detroit Symphony, and New World Symphony, and the Wilmington (NC) Symphony.
Ifetayo was also honored at the Friends of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Rising Stars Showcase in 2013 while she was just ten years old. There she recorded the 1st movement of the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto.
