IAMX Information
Chris Corner formed IAMX in London, England, in 2002 after a break from his previous band, Sneaker Pimps. It's an unofficial music endeavor with a secondary emphasis on visual art exploration. IAMX's music is extremely diverse. Music styles from electronic rock and dance to dark cabaret with burlesque influences and heartfelt ballads.
So, the clear hallmark of the IAMX discography is Corner's distinctive and expansive voice, his systematic approach to programming sounds and beats, and his intricate production style.
Except for the fifth studio album, The Unified Field, which was co-produced by Jim Abbiss, the experimental album Unfall, which also features co-production and co-writing by Abbiss, and the acoustic album Echo Echo, which was co-produced by Corner, all of IAMX's albums have been released independently and were written and produced solely by Corner.
Berlin, Germany, was home to IAMX from 2006 to 2014, and it was there that Corner says he found "the spirit to care less about the music industry and take an independent route." IAMX's music and lyrics changed significantly after moving to Berlin. Motivating ideas include suicide, infatuation, drug abuse, and decadence.
