Heather Headley Information
Heather Headley (October 5, 1974) is a Trinidadian-American actress, singer, and songwriter. She was born in Barataria, Trinidad, and Tobago, but moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1989. She graduated from Northrop High School and went to Northwestern University from 1993-1996. While studying, Headley decided to join the musical called "Ragtime," so she dropped out of school. She performed as Nala in the Broadway musical "The Lion King" for the first time in 1997.
Headley's performance was well-received in The Lion King, earning her another role in the Broadway Adaptation of Aida. It also earned her the Tony Award for Best Actress in 2000. Headley appeared in the Encorest staged concert production of Do Re Mi in 1999. She has also starred in the Actors' Fund of America.
Headley performed Burt Bacharach and Hal David's song entitled "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" in 2006. On July 5, 2007, she made a guest appearance at Vivere Live in Tuscany concert that took place in Lajatico, Italy for Andrea Bocelli.
Headley has released several notable studio albums throughout her musical career, including This Is Who I Am (October 8, 2002), In My Mind (January 31, 2006), Audience of One (January 13, 2009), Only One in the World (September 25, 2012), and Broadway My Way (November 14, 2018). She has won several awards throughout her career and has been nominated several times, even winning a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album in 2010.
