Guy Penrod Information
Guy Penrod (July 2, 1963) is a gospel singer from Taylor, Texas. He was born Guy Allen Penrod and grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico. Penrod music is defined as southern gospel and Christian. His father was the pastor of Temple Baptist Church. Penrod went to Hobbs High School, and during his time in school, Penrod recorded his first album named The Best of Guy Penrod. Penrod later attended Liberty University, and soon after his graduation, he began to work as a studio singer in the early 1980s.
Penrod backed up voices for Steve Green, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Carman, Shania Twain, James Ingram, and Phillips, Craig & Dean. He was a member of the Christ Church Choir as well. He also appeared regularly on TNN’s Music City Tonight, working as a background singer. Some of his other notable contributions include working with the Stamps Quartet in 1987 and the Gaither Vocal Band in 1994. Penrod rocked the stage in Gaither Homecoming concerts all over Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, and the U.S. He was also selected to perform for the opening of Jerry Falwell’s new Thomas Road Baptist Church.
On August 6, 2005, Penrod’s first album named The Best of Guy Penrod, reached number 92 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by RIAA. Some of his other notable albums are Breathe Deep 2010, Hymns 2012, Worship 2014, Christmas 2014, Live: Hymns & Worship 2016, Classics 2017, and Blessed Assurance 2018.
