Seattle-born crooner Gus Clark left home at age 18 to travel the United States with nothing but a mandolin and a backpack. He honed his skills performing on the streets and making his way across the country via freight train and the goodwill of those still willing to pick up hitchhikers. Over ten years later, he's emerged as a skilled multi-instrumentalist (guitar, accordion, mandolin, and more), and his work is a wonderful homage to the golden era of American music, from the blues of before World War II to the honky tonk of 1960s Nashville.
Clark performs traditional barn-burners, good-time dancing classics, poignant heartache ballads, and his originals with a voice that mixes unique authenticity with pitch-perfect emotive depth. Whether performing solo or with his excellent band, Clark's extraordinary tenor and tremendous musical presence are sure to both wrench hearts and urge listeners onto the dance floor. Clark has established himself as a mainstay of the Seattle music scene over the years, performing at major festivals and playing at the city's most well-known country dance bars and Americana venues.
Regularly performing as a guest vocalist at tribute evenings and charity events, he has shared the stage with modern greats and rising stars. Among those stars are Charley Crockett, Pokey LaFarge, Eilen Jewell, Cactus Blossoms, Jeremy Pinnell, Whitney Rose, Easy Leaves, and Jaime Wyatt. He performs on accordion, vocals, and mandolin on the road with the outlaw party-country band Country Lips.
