Grayson Capps Information
Grayson Capps (April 17, 1967) is an American Americana and blues-rock songwriter and singer. He was born in Opelika, Alabama, and raised in Brewton, Alabama as a child. Later, he moved to Fairhope, Alabama, for high school and became interested in theatre. Capps received a degree in theatre from Tulane University and stayed in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina.
Capps began his music career by forming a band called The House Levelers in the early 1990s while a student at Tulane. The music of his band was described as “thrash-folk.” Also, while at Tulane, Capps started another blues-rock band called Stavin’ Chain. Before disbanding, that group released one eponymous album. Many of the songs by Capps appeared on the soundtrack of the film called “A Love Song for Bobby Long.”
Capps released his debut solo album entitled “If You Knew My Mind” on Hyena Records in 2005. Then, his second solo album, “Wail & Ride,” was released in 2006 on the same label. In 2008, Rott & Roll was recorded with a band called Stumpknockers. He has worked with different records labels such as Royal Potato Family, Ruf, and Appaloosa. Capps’ notable studio albums include Songbones (2007), The Lost Cause Minstrels (2011), and Willie Sugarcapps (2013), to name a few.
