Grand Funk Railroad Information
Grand Funk Railroad (often abbreviated to Grand Funk) is an American rock band comprised of Mel Schacher (bass), Mark Farner (vocals, guitar, keyboards, harmonica), and Don Brewer (drums, vocals). The band was founded in 1969 in Flint, Michigan. Its peak years were the 1970s when its songs were at the top of the charts.
From 1969 until their initial breakup in 1976, Grand Funk released 12 albums, six of which were certified platinum and seven of which were certified gold. The band played to sold-out venues all over the world, performing their infectious brand of arena rock, and was generally well-received by fans, even though they received mostly negative reviews.
Concerts by Grand Funk Railroad, whose "The American Band Tour 2019" and "Celebrating 50 Years of Funk" tours began on January 17, 2019, are still going strong. Having played his last gig with Grand Funk Railroad on December 14, 2023, in Marietta, Ohio, Bruce Kulick announced his departure from the group on January 2, 2024. He cited a desire to concentrate on other endeavors as his reason.
Mark Chatfield, a singer-guitarist known for his work with the Godz, Rosie, Bob Seger, and the Silver Bullet Band, joined Grand Funk Railroad permanently on January 4, 2024, replacing Bruce Kulick.
