Grady Spencer and The Work is a band by Grady Spencer that originated in Fort Worth, TX. Grady Spencer was born in Lubbock and raised in the country outside of a town called Paducah, so his roots are deep in Texas. A foreman for a commercial construction company during the day, and the rest of the time, Spencer is a songwriter and front-man of Grady Spencer & The Work. Grady Spencer and The Work was founded in 2013 on the stage of Paradox Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Spencer was joined by drummer Blake Sager, bassist Johnny Hatcher, and guitarist Tyler Martin.
The music of Grady Spencer and The Work reflect good times and a nod to blue-collar roots. Sleep was the first studio album by the band that was recorded and self-produced in 2013 at 1916 Studios in Kyle, Texas. The album was released the same year and was followed by the single entitled "Things to Do," which was eventually picked up by the Fort Worth Visitors Bureau via Tom Martens. Not only this, but the city sent the group to Niles City Sound to re-record and release the track as a single in 2017.
The Line Between was the group's sophomore record that was primarily recorded at January Sound in Dallas. The group also worked with Magnolia Records and released a sophomore album in 2016. The Line Between was another album by the band that was followed by Celebrate, The Work's most recent album, released in June of 2019.
