Govinda Information
Govinda Arun Ahuja (December 21, 1963) is a former politician, dancer, and Indian film actor. He was born in Bombay and is known as Govinda for his dancing skills as well as slapstick performances. Govinda earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Vartak College, Vasai; however, his father was the one who suggested he start a career in acting.
Govinda was offered the role of Abhimanyu in the Mahabharat (1988 TV series), which was a popular mythological serial. His first film was Tan-Badan, where he worked opposite Kushboo. The film was directed by Govinda’s uncle, Anand. In June 1985, Govinda began shooting for his next film, and in 1986, “Ilzam” was released.
Govinda starred in the cult classic entitled “Awaargi” in 1990. He worked alongside Meenakshi Sheshadri and Anil Kapoor. He has also appeared with legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikant in the hit film “Hum,” released in 1991. During the early 2000s, Govinda released a few major hit films such as Jodi No. 1 (2001), Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Kunwara, and Ek Aur Ek Gyarah. He was nominated for Filmfare Awards for Best Performance in a Comic Role for his performance in Akhiyon Se Goli Maare, Kyo Kii.., and Jodi No. 1.
Govinda has collaborated with several fellow artists throughout his career, including Sanjay Dutt, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla, Neelam Kothari, Shilpa Shetty, Lara Dutta, and Rani Mukherji.
