D’Anthony William Carlos (May 17, 1993) is an American singer and rapper, professionally known by his stage name, GoldLink. He was born in Washington, D.C. D’Anthony Carlos, GoldLink’s birth name, was his first stage name. After graduating from Hayfield Secondary School, he began composing music as a pastime, eventually recording tracks in a local studio called Indie Media Lab in Falls Church, Virginia. Under the name Gold Link James, he posted his debut recordings on Bandcamp. He started performing as GoldLink in 2013, releasing numerous free tracks on SoundCloud.
In July of 2014, GoldLink released his first mixtape, The God Complex. Complex named it one of the top projects of the first half of 2014, while Spin rated it 19th on their list of the 40 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2014, Clash listed it seventh on their list of the Top 10 Mixtapes of 2014, and Pitchfork Media awarded it a 7.9 rating.
In November 2015, he released the mixtape After That, We Didn’t Talk, which addressed many of the remaining topics from The God Complex. Goldlink performed alongside musicians Kelela, Angel Olsen, Brika, and others at the prestigious 3 Days Miami in February 2017.
