Gary Lee Clark Jr (February 15, 1984). is a musician and singer who plays guitar and sings blues, rock, soul, and hip-hop born in Austin, Texas. After signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2011, Clark released an extended play called The Bright Lights.
Recordings such as Blak and Blu and The Story of Sonny Boy Slim came later. Numerous live performances by Clark have been captured on Gary Clark Jr. Live (2014) and Gary Clark Jr. Live/North America (2017).
Please Come Home by Clark was nominated for a Grammy in 2014 for Best Traditional R&B Performance. He dropped his latest album, This Land, in 2019. Songs like "This Land" from that album took home Grammys for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance in 2020.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah featured Clark's performance of "This Land" on February 28, 2019. While the Rolling Stones were performing at Gillette Stadium on July 7, 2019, as part of their 2019 No Filter Tour, Clark was the opening act.
Clark joined the Rolling Stones on guitar and vocals for their rendition of "Ride 'Em on Down." On April 24, 2022, during Jon Stewart's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Bruce Springsteen and the band were led by Clark.
