Faster Pussycat Information
Faster Pussycat is an American rock band that was founded in 1985 and originated from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in Hollywood by Taime Downe during the glam-punk and glam-metal boom of the 1980s. The music of the band is described as glam metal, industrial rock, hard rock, glam punk, and punk rock. Its name was derived Hollywood by Taime Downe from the Russ Meyer film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. Some of the earliest members included in the Faster Pussycat were Downe and Greg Steele, along with Brent Muscat. At the same time, the current lineup consists of Steele (guitar), Muscat (guitar), Kelly Nickels (bass), Downe (vocals), and Mark Michals (drums).
The band was declared as most successful during the late 1980s when their self-titled debut album came out. It was followed by the 1989 gold album Wake Me When It's Over by Faster Pussycat and later by their last major label album Whipped! in 1992. Faster Pussycat also appeared on the cover of Screamer Magazine's debut issue. The group toured all across the nation along with Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth, and Motörhead.
Faster Pussycat also appeared in the rockumentary film The Decline of Western Civilization part 2 - The Metal Years in 1987. Some of the most successful albums recorded by the band are The Power and the Glory Hole, Live and Rare (1990) EP, Belted, Buckled, and Booted (1992) EP, Front Row for the Donkey Show (2009), and a few more.
Faster Pussycat also released some hit singles such as "Don't Change That Song," "Nonstop to Nowhere," "Bathroom Wall (Live)," and many more.
