Fanfare for the Common Man Information
Aaron Copland, an American composer, composed Fanfare for the Common Man. The address given earlier that year by then-American Vice President Henry A. Wallace, who declared the advent of the "Century of the Common Man," inspired this 1942 piece written for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under conductor Eugene Goossens. There are several other adaptations out there, and pieces of the original work can be found in numerous American and British cultural products developed later.
The timing of "Fanfare" nearly matched the time it took the Aintree Grand National Steeplechase winner to journey from the racecourse to the winner's enclosure; therefore, it was used to do so beginning in the 1990s. As of 2010, when the enclosure was relocated, "Fanfare" was utilized to herald the entry of racers from the paddock onto the track.
A cover of "Fanfare for the Common Man - Montana" was included on Vincent Montana Junior's second Disco album for Atlantic Records.
