Jeff Abel (April 29, 1986) is a Canadian producer and DJ born in Kelowna, British Columbia. He goes by the stage name Excision. He started the record labels Rottun and Subsidia early in his career. Excision first exploded onto the electronic music scene in 2007 with the release of his track "No Escape." His real name is Jeff Abel, and he's known for making some of the heaviest and hardest-hitting dubstep around. His sound is loud, aggressive, and characterized by a deep bass. Fans love how intense and wild his music feels, with sharp drops and crazy energy. In 2011, he released his debut album, X-Rated, which helped him reach a much larger audience. From there, he became one of the top names in bass music, building a loyal fan base that follows him from city to city.
Over the years, Abel has kept pushing the limits of live shows and sound design. He’s known for creating massive stage setups like The Paradox and The Evolution, which use huge LED screens, lasers, and bone-rattling sound systems. Albums like Virus (2016) and Apex (2018) showed off how much his style has grown while still keeping that signature heavy bass. He’s also helped other artists grow by running his record label, Subsidia Records. Excision has played major festivals like Lost Lands, which he created himself, and Bass Canyon. These events are now yearly highlights for bass music fans.
In 2025, Abel is back with his Nexus Tour, bringing brand-new visuals, music, and stage production. The tour includes stops in cities like Denver, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Atlanta. This year’s show features tracks from his latest album, Nexus, and includes support from artists like Ray Volpe, Jessica Audiffred, and Wooli. Every night is packed with lights, lasers, and the kind of bass that shakes the whole venue. Fans can expect one of the biggest and most intense live EDM experiences of the year.
