Erin Rae is an American folk-pop band formerly known as Erin Rae & the Meanwhiles). The band originated from Nashville, Tennessee. Erin Rae is the group leader who is known for making smooth-edged music for Sunday afternoons. According to Rolling Stone, her music arrangements are perfectly anchored by pedal-steel guitar and acoustic guitar. Her music is well-rooted in modern-day indie-folk genres. But at the same time, her songs show exclusive resemblance to Jackson Browne and Joni Mitchell.
Erin Rae began her official singer/songwriter career in 2012. She released an EP entitled Crazy Talk. The EP was followed by her debut full-length album in 2015. The album was a collaboration with The Meanwhiles, and it was given the name Soon Enough. This album was recorded in the shortest period, only two days. In July of the same year, Erin Rae and the Meanwhiles recorded a Daytrotter session. The recording took place at Big Light Studio, located in Nashville.
In June 2018, Erin Rae’s second full-length album named Putting On Airs officially came out. She was part of the Newport Folk Festival as a solo artist in July 2021. Some of her notable discographies include EP Aquarium Drunkard (2019) and Philadelphia 4-track demos (2019), both produced by Gerard G. “Jerry” Bernhardt III; Playing Old Games (2016), Gold Plated/Refugee (2019), Merry Christmas Darling (2018), Crazy Talk (2012), and a few more.
